Sustainable Agriculture for Desert Climates

By creating a space for local agriculture, the project encourages visitors to learn how food can be grown within their own homes. Centred on sustainability and desert farming, it highlights vertical growing systems and responsible water use as ways of understanding the value of farming in an arid climate.

Original state of the site.

The intervention begins with the demolition of the existing site, followed by the insertion of ground planes for vegetation and agriculture, vertical planes for access and circulation, and a roof structure with a palm tree skylight. Simultaneously, the incorporation of the 3,000-year-old Falaj irrigation system sustains the segment through gravity-fed running water.
