Soup Kitchen for a Post-War Kyiv

A self-sustaining space for nourishment and community support.

This project proposes a self-sustaining soup kitchen in post-war Kyiv, Ukraine, centred on community care, social support, and restoration. The design began with a central inserted volume, followed by apertures for sunlight and a bridge connecting the two existing masses of the site.

Hydroponic and mushroom farms at the upper level, together with interior and exterior green walls, support a cycle in which produce is grown, harvested by volunteers, and prepared in the kitchens for dining and collection. Classrooms further extend the project’s role by supporting cooking, learning, and continued community growth, with families and the elderly as its primary users.
